Covid-19 PROCEDURES for the Duke of Edinburgh Programme - if applicable
In these most unusual of times, Badger Adventures have reintroduced their DofE programme to conform with the governments Covid-19 guidelines, starting with Gold Open Expeditions in the Lake District in July, August and also in October half-term.
The syllabus will be delivered to small groups by an experienced instructor whilst maintaining social distancing. For activities requiring the need to be within the 2m guidelines (for example, delivering Navigation,), the students and the instructor will wear a mask, make regular use of hand washing, anti-bacterial gel and wear gloves when necessary.
Each student will have a prepared individual map, cooker and their own tent to maintain social distancing when they are doing these activities.
Campsites in the Lake District are now open but with limited numbers and adjustments to keep to the relevant guidelines such as plenty of cleaning materials and one-in-one-out policies for facilities, which campers are adhering to.

Badger Adventures DofE are committed to safety and we are an approved accredited provider (AAP) for the Duke of Edinburgh Award. We are proud to be licensed by the Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority (AALA). Visit the Duke of Edinburgh Website

Our ethos is to be environmentally and culturally conscious at all times. The standards, principles and responsibilities of all our instructors are to respect, protect and preserve our planet. We expect all our adventurers to abide to the same rules allowing us to take lifelong memories away with us but leaving only our footsteps behind.
Badger Adventures have run our Bronze, Silver and Gold DofE training and assessed expeditions for the past two years. I have always been hugely impressed with the service Richie and his team have shown us. The expedition leaders have been some of the most professional and experienced that I have come across. The expeditions and routes have always been carefully planned and thought out, they have taken a genuine interest in the pupils and in their personal development and ensured that the expeditions are safe, challenging and exciting. I cannot recommend them more highly.
A huge thank you to Ritchie and the whole team at Badger Adventures. We have just returned from our Silver practice expedition which as the D of E coordinator can be a source of much work, stress and worry, but with Badger Adventures at the helm delivering the training there were no concerns! The students have learnt so much and I am confident that all students have had the same standard of excellent training. I came home to an email from a happy parent saying their child had returned home “exhilarated, exhausted and enthusiastic to go for Gold”. Thank you Ritchie, you make it all look so easy, when I know from experience it certainly isn’t.
Great big thankyous to Badger Adventures for organising the Open Gold Expedition and allowing our daughter to join the expedition at short notice… Very accommodating. Thank you.
Badger Adventures have run our Gold DofE expeditions for the past five years, and we continue to be impressed with the service they offer. As school co-ordinator, Ritchie and his team are always on the end of the phone to help answer any questions or solve any problems along the way. They have always been able to accommodate our large cohort sizes, even through creating another expedition area to prevent too many groups walking the same routes. Their instructors are dedicated to providing excellent training to our pupils in the field and instill the highest of standards so that pupils learn to be self-sufficient and safe in the mountains, whilst enjoying the challenges of their Expedition section. Outsourcing to such an established company not only makes my job much easier but offers our pupils a quality service along the way. I cannot recommend Badger Adventures highly enough.
